Vote Yes on E: renew local funding that keeps the best teachers and academic programs in Alameda schools, without increasing taxes

Alameda’s schools are at the heart of our community. Great schools and excellent teachers make Alameda a great place to live. By keeping our local schools strong, we keep the community strong.

That’s why we need Measure E. Measure E will keep the best teachers in local schools, sustain strong academic programs, and prepare students to compete at top colleges and in the 21 st -century workforce — all without raising your taxes by a single penny.

Right now, our schools are funded by
two local parcel taxes. Those parcel taxes are set to expire. Measure E consolidates and renews these existing taxes for a period of nine years.

Without Measure E, our schools would lose $24,000,000 annually. That’s 20% of the overall budget! Without this critical local funding, schools will be forced to slash valuable programs, lay off educators, and cut teacher salaries. As Alameda housing costs continue to rise, we need Measure E, so we do not lose teachers to better-paying schools and more affordable communities.
